1 |  +3 Rental Listing Scam Lists too good to be true rental property that they really don\'t own. They say they\'ll send documents and keys after receiving the deposit and first month\'s rent. First clue was him saying there is a sign on the property for the realtor they used to go through, but do not any more, and not to contact them.
Once putting you through an informal application process, they ask for you to wire money - his explanation for why it wasn\'t his name on the MoneyGram was that it was a relative. Upon being pressed for more information before sending money, he tried to use religious pressure, \"God helped us find each other, we must trust each other, I believe in you,\" etc.
Wire transfers have no way of returning money, especially to a stranger. You would never get your money back from these guys, even though they say you can get a refund if you don\'t like the place. |

-SAME thing happened like the other reports listed.
Found the listing on Zillow.com I submitted an inquiry and received this email. After communicating back and forth, even driving by the home that was listed I wanted a phone number to discuss the details further. Seemed too good to be true.
"Thanks for your interest and inquiries about my house. Yes the house is still available for rent and we are looking for a responsible person/family to occupy and maintain the house now that we are not around. My wife and i just moved to Rogers, AK for a program called FAMILY LIFE AND HIV EDUCATION AND THE HIV PREVENTION FOR RURAL YOUTH PROGRAM, the program is taking place in three major countries in Europe, Africa, UK . We will be there for 2 to 3 years or more that is why I have made up my mind to put up my house for rent to whom ever that will take good care of it."
"It was nice hearing back from you and i really appreciate it, i want you to know that my wife and i are very happy to see the interest and concern you have show towards renting our home and we believe that you will be a responsible tenant to us, I will solicit for your absolute maintenance of this house and want you to treat it as your own , the money is not the main problem but we want you to keep it tidy all the time so that we will be glad to see it neat when we come for a check up, you can live in the house as soon as you are taken good care of the house we could decide to sell it to you if you keep to your promise in taken good care of the property , as we have told you in the previous email presently we are not around and you can view from the inside until your application form is approved or we send you the pictures of the property , we want you to fill out the rental application form below so that we can know the next step to take as soon as possible."
"Looking forward to hear from you with all this details so that i can have it in my file incase of issuing the receipt for you and contacting you.Await your urgent reply so that we can discuss on how to get the document and the key to you,please we are giving you all this base on trust and again i will want you to stick to your words,you know that we do not see yet and only putting everything into Gods hand,so please do not let us down in this our property and God bless you more as you do this. Looking forward to hear from you.Thanks And Remain Blessed"

Similar to the other two reports. Sent email with information and stated he and his wife were doing some HIV Kids Program for 2-3 years and renting their home. They live in Illinois now. Picture of a couple in Africa, just as state above. This was a home listed on KSL in Layton today. Has since been taken down.

Found 1536 West Crystal Dr. West Jordan, Utah 84084 on KSL as a rental listing. Rent 900.00 Deposit 600.00. All correspondence is identical to your sample. Including information on who and where to send money. All exactly the same. Voice communication on phone was breaking up. Mainly wanted to communicate through e-mail. Also man on phone had a heavy accent. Also very persistent on getting application to him. The pictures that were sent to us was of a Caucasian couple in Africa. House was listed on KSL for one day. Also listed as West Crystal Ridge Dr.
