Me: Hi, Yes my dress on gumtree is still available. Annie: Thanks a lot for the email. I am away at sea at the moment,i work with New Zealand Oil and Gas (NZOG) and we are presently offshore in New Zealand Taranaki Basin on kapo project. We do not have access to phone at the moment,its 15days off and 15days on,which is why I contacted you with internet messaging facility. Where is it located at the moment? am very satisfied with your advert,i will like you to get back to me with is present condition and i want it delivered before my arrival.I won\'t be able to come for the inspection due to the nature of my work and i would have called but our calling is restricted.Regarding the payment,pls get back to me with your final asking price and your paypal details so i can process the payment,you can alternatively send your bsb and acct number if you have no paypal acct.I have also contacted my courier who will come for pick up after the whole fund has been cleared into your acct. Me: I respond with all the answers to her questions - nothing seems out of the ordinary here, but wait for it Annie: Thanks for the payment details and am happy to proceed with the payment, however i just got a confirmation mail from the shipping company now that i will need to pay for the freighting fees before they can schedule pre-shipping/ pickup date,they charged $800 aud for the pick up and delivery, but the problem is they only accept western union money transfer as form of payment which is sent to their HQ in the China. As you are well aware of, due to the nature of my work am away and do not have access to western union, most post offices have western union section,will it be ok with you if I add the $800 aud to the amount I am transferring? and as soon as the money goes through you can help me make the western union transfer of the freighting fees through western union money transfer? You are not obliged to help me, but i will indeed appreciate your help as I am a little incapacitated here. Me: I am thinking this is starting to smell funny but I respond with that should not be a problem, there are a few post offices close by and there is a Western Union place near my work. The freight fees are quite high did you want me to see how much it would cost regular post? Also I notice you can transfer money via western union on line which would be an option as well She then claims to have made payment - I then receive email notification via pay pal that states Temporary Hold Has Been Placed On Your Payment. And there it is folks I will not get my money until I pay the \'courier company $800 up front\' and then my money will be release. Annie: I have just made the payments now and i expected paypal to have emailed you by now. These are the steps you need when sending the money to the agent. Go to any Western Union or Post Office close to you . Ask for a western union money transfer form. Fill the form with the agent details below. Tender the cash and you will be issued a receipt after the money has been sent get back to me or reply the email you received from PayPal and send them the western union details for the verification of funds so that your account can be credited. Me: Annie, this makes me kind of uneasy as I was under the impression that the money would be directly deposited into my account and then I would take the extra funds to the Credit Union. I have no issue in going to western union and making the payment however only after I get verification from paypal that this transaction is legit and not a scam. Annie: I was\' t aware PayPal would hold on to the funds until after I made the payment, I even asked them to credit the funds into your account, but they said until they have received the western union details from you,I will implore you to get the money and forward it to my pick up company via western union transfer.Your account will be credited with immediate effect, once you forward the western union details to PayPal customer care for proper verification.I will not like the situation whereby i will lose my money and i am counting on you to complete the western union part so as to make every thing sealed tomorrow morning. After doing some research I have discovered that all of this was a load of crap and a scam to try to get me to transfer funds. | ||||
