I received a proposal in the mail. John Stokovich claims to be looking for relatives of one "William [my last name]" of UK who died "recently." Thinks I may be one. He claims to be able to transfer to me some or all of US$6.8 Million in "unclaimed [life insurance] deposit proceeds." Stokovich is the "holder" of these funds and unless he can transfer them soon to someone with same last name as a beneficiary, something he claims he can make happen, the funds will be turned over to "the Treasury Division." Whoever this individual is, he obviously does not have a good command of the English language or any understanding of how probate actually works. The return address on the envelope is 1450 Meyerside Drive, 7th Floor, Mississauga, Ontario. That address is the location of a small drive-through branch office of Royal Bank - only one floor! Stokovich's company address on the letterhead is 155 Buckingham Palace Road, London, UK. Apparently there is no building at that address today and I have found no record of Capital Professional Inc. The scammer asks for personal information to get things started. He insists on response only through email or fax. Undoubtedly as the scam unfolds, the scamster will be asking for money or more valuable information for identity theft purposes. I see another person has also reported the Stokovich scam where another "William So-and-so" is supposed to be the deceased.
Follow Ups/Extra Information. Most recent is listed first.
Inheritance to be claimed, from London address 155 Buckingham Palace Road.
The letter return address is Dixie place. The large driveway next to the Royal Bank goes to the large glass building in behind, which has the local offices of the RCMP. Wonder if John knows that?
