Mobile Phone Scam (Sony Xperia S)
 Scammer
  Information
Name:
   Declan Brouder
Email Address:
   brouder.declan1@yahoo.com
I was selling my mobile phone on Adverts.ie and DoneDeal.ie, two very large online classified websites, and the latter lists your phone number on the website for usage by interested buyers. I received a SMS from this individual (under the strange number above). The SMS Text message read:

\'U still have the phone for sale What's your best price? contact me on brouder.declan1@yahoo.com\'

Although I did not respond to the contact, I did become aware of the scam via a similar reply to the same advert, as I will list in another Tip-Off on this website.

Be weary: as you can see from the telephone number, you cannot reply to it. It is not a short code, nor is it an international mobile number, but rather a masked number sent from a bulk messaging system or a SMS gateway. Be weary if you cannot contact the person directly. I also found that I asked if any buyers would TEXT before calling. The fact that they could not contact me, or mention where they saw the advert, raised suspicions.
