The add was run in craigslist for an 1986 NEWELL CUSTOM COACH for $3,400. I responded by asking if the price was a misprint. The reply I got was the following:
My name is Jessica, and I'm emailing you regarding the Newell that I have for sale. The motorhome is in perfect condition, with no need for any additional repairs. Flawless exterior/interior condition. It has never been involved in an accident. The mileage is 136,000, it has a clear title with no loans or liens on it. The price was reduced at $3,400 as I need to sell the motorhome before the 22th of May when I will be leaving with my platoon back to Afghanistan, so I don't want it getting old in my backyard.
If you have any other questions, or need more info, please feel free to ask.
I replied back with the following:
If you haven't sold it, I would like to buy it. If it is sold please just email me back to let me know. I'm thinking it's sold as I can't find the listing this morning.
Thank you for responding,......
I then received a response:
Right now I am at the military base getting ready for Afghanistan. This means that I am doing a special training and I am not allowed to get out of the unit. The RV is already at the shipping company in Topeka KS sealed and ready for the shipping. My presence won't be necessary because I prearranged the deal with eBay. The deal includes free delivery and it will arrive at your address in 3 days. You will have 5 days to test it and inspect the RV prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it you can send it back at my expense.
If you are interested in knowing more info about how it works, i can ask eBay to send you an email with more information on how to purchase it. eBay will contact you shortly after they have the details with all the information that you need to complete this deal and you will also have proof that I am covered by them and a legitimate seller. If you would like to receive the email from eBay will all the transaction information please reply with your full name, and addressplus ph# and they will contact you right away.
None of the above makes any sense. I looked on ebay and could not find the RV up for auction. Also this is not how ebay works. Secondly, the facts and figures don't add up since this person is offering to ship a bus to me for my inspection BEFORE BUYING IT!! And if I don't want to buy it, they will pay to have it shipped back to the place of origin. The shipping back and forth would cost way more than the asking price alone.!!Plus ebay does not email information about items to perspective buyers. Or handle the closing of sales in that manner. Also.....
TO BEGIN WITH, THE DEAL BEING OFFERED WAS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.... WHICH MEANS EXACTLY THAT!!!
