As required by the Higher Education Support Amendment (VET FEE-HELP Reform) Act 2015 and the Higher Education Support (VET) Guideline 2015, if you wish to apply for a VET FEE-HELP loan for this course, you must also be assessed for academic suitability. This is a new measure introduced by the Commonwealth Government from January 1, 2016. To be assessed as academically suitable, you need to: have completed Year 12 and provide your provider with a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education; or be assessed as displaying competency at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy. If you do not satisfy these criteria, you will not be able to access VET FEE-HELP for this course. In those circumstances, please enquire about alternative payment options. Study Now, Pay Later APTI is authorised by the Commonwealth Government to offer VET FEE-HELP. VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme that enables eligible students to take out a loan through the Commonwealth Government to pay their tuition fees upfront. The Government also charges a loan fee of 20% which is added to the total debt. If you are eligible, you can use VET FEE-HELP to help pay all or part of your tuition. You may also pay for your course entirely upfront without utilising VET FEE-HELP. There is no interest charged on your VET FEE-HELP loan, however the loan is indexed each year on June 1. You will have to start paying back your loan once you start earning over the loan repayment threshold, which is presently $54,126 for the 2015-16 financial year. The amount you repay each year is calculated as a percentage of your repayment income and may reduce your take-home wage or salary. Repayment rates for the 2015-16 income year are as follows: Repayment income Repayment % rate Below $54,126 Nil $54,126 - $60,292 4.0% $60,293 - $66,456 4.5% $66,457 - $69,949 5.0% $69,950 - $75,190 5.5% $75,191 - $81,432 6.0% $81,433 - $85,718 6.5% $85,719 - $94,331 7.0% $94,332 - $100,519 7.5% $100,520 and above 8.0% The debt you incur through VET FEE-HELP is a real debt that will remain as a personal debt obligation until it is repaid and may affect your credit rating and borrowing capacity. You may wish to seek independent financial advice prior to applying for a VET FEE-HELP loan. Please ensure you take the time to read the VET FEE-HELP booklet (available via the link below) thoroughly as you are required to have read this before completing a request form. Any request for VET FEE-HELP must be made at least two business days after you enrol in the course, and on or before the first census date. VET FEE-HELP INFORMATION FOR 2016 BOOKLET Students may apply to have their VET FEE-HELP debt re-credited after any of the census dates if there are special circumstances that impact the ability of a student to continue with their studies. In such circumstances, the student should contact APTI for further information on how to apply to have their debt re-credited. Census Dates Census dates are like a cooling off period – they are designed to protect students who elect not to proceed with their enrolment. Census dates are set by APTI and are the last dates you can withdraw your enrolment without incurring the cost or debt for that particular portion of the course. For each census date passed, you will incur a third of the total course cost. A 20% loan fee will be applied to this amount if you utilise VET FEE-HELP and you will be liable to repay the debt regardless of whether you complete your course. There are a total of 3 census dates for this course. To view information regarding tuition fees and census dates please see the attached fee schedules. To find out more about your rights and obligations as a student of APTI please see APTI's Policies & Procedures. There you will find APTI’s withdrawal of enrolment policy. We act as an agent for APTI and receive a commission from APTI for our services. Please ensure you complete the Customer Commitment Checklist To make sure we provided you with the best service possible and to ensure you understand exactly what you need to get the most out of your enrolment, please click the above link and complete the checklist. Next Steps If you intend to access VET FEE-HELP to cover the cost of the course you are required to provide a copy of your Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or be assessed as displaying competence at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework in both reading and numeracy by completing a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA). The CSPA is a set of online assessments designed to measure the literacy and numeracy skills of all learners. You must complete the CSPA without any assistance. A member of our support team will provide further details of this process. Two business days after you are enrolled and if you have successfully met APTI's VET FEE-HELP Student Entry Procedure, you will receive an email with a link to apply for a VET FEE-HELP loan. We will contact you to assist you with the request form. Please ensure you have read the VET FEE-HELP booklet prior to completing the loan request form. You will also need your Tax File Number to complete this form. Your Tax File Number is a private piece of information that should only be shared with APTI and the Commonwealth Government. If you use an alternative payment option to VET FEE-HELP you will not be required to follow these steps. Best of luck with your application. We believe that education is the pathway to reinvention. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Kind regards, Joel Jesaveluk Career Consultant A. 600 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn, Vic Australia 3122P. 1800 555 010E.
