I received a text message (SMS) as soon as my car was listed on Gumtree today 17.09.2018 This is the complete text from a New York number +1 (646) 663-4166 1/2 HI MY PARTNER WILL LIKE TO KNOW IF YOUR CAR IS STILL ON FOR SALE, IF YES REPLY BACK TO HER ON (WILLIAMSKENNYSCOTT1@GMAIL.COM) WITH YOUR FINAL PRICE. EMAIL 2/2 ONLY. -gade
Obviously a scam..But honestly what do they think I am going to do? Send them money to New York for a car I am selling?? I have no idea why the crazies come out when you list something for sale. Like damn vultures.

Scam response to my car ad on Gumtree (Australia). Same text as reported by others. He contacted my via SMS Text, but somehow doesn't show any mobile number for sender!

I have receive the exact text as above and have forwarded it to phishing@paypal.com His new Australian mob# is 0429236272 or +61429236272 you know: navy , buying for his son, no inspection required, 300 to take the add down. Be IT I saw it straight away

Hey I entered a scam notification earlier about my car for sale and I got a suss text from Williams Kenny Scott with an Aussie mobile number. After that I had three identical texts (same day the car went up for sale) from a new generic name Charles Micheal and a US mobile number. 'Hello seller, is your listed item on gumtree still for sale?pls get back to me on (charlesmicheal212@gmail.com) with your final asking price.' I'm not sure what this guy is up to but he's on the move. G

Hey I have a car on gumtree and I got the following text. 'Hi seller,I will like to know if your listed car still for sale? if yes reply back to me on (williamskennyscott@gmail.com) with your final price Email only.' It didn't look right so looked up the email address and bingo. Watch out! G

Got text from +61421269809 "Hi mate, I will like to know if your listed car still for sale? if yes reply back to me on (williamskennyscott@gmail.com) with your final price Email only." After i sent email then got following reply

But I'm able to access email any time as will make use of computer.
