The scam is about windows operating system. This person or a group of people call landline numbers in canada or the US and they identify themselves as technical support representatives from microsoft. They say that they have recieved signals from your computer and your computer has a virus. People who are not familiar with computers usually fall for this scam. They then ask the person to go onto their computer and guide them in opening the event viewer log (where there are some files that always say Error) they then ask the person for their credit cad information in order to fix the error. These guys are from india not because they talk with an indian accent but i have been getting those calls for about two weeks and i was never there to answer those calls. Last week i was home and i answered the call and i am originally from india as well so i kindly asked this guy not to call me and take my number from their mailing list. The guy said ok and he hangs up and calls me back right after and tell me that see i havent taken you out from my list. He then starts swearing at me in indian language. The same day the same guy called me 23 times. Everytime i answer the phone the guy swears at me and hangsup. When they call they are using an VOIP and on the caller ID it says unknown number but on the TV display it shows that the number is from 91822. If you guys need more examples you can google 91822 and u will see all the reports there.
I was reading about the scam and i found out they have been doing this in Europe Australia and now it is coming to north america.
I have found so many people reporting various stuff about the same scam. I did not know where should i report this but my wifes grandmother fell for the scam and the guy actually had remote access to her computer and i m pretty sure that they stole all her information from the computer. I advised her to call her bank and report the problem. I also advised her to change the password on her acounts and everything else.
I didnt know where to report this and i am really hoping that someone would take some action on these people
Thank you very much
