I applied for an overseas job with Ghana Gold company. via NowHiring.com.au Job Application. The position was for Machinery Operator with a reference number and expiry date. I sent through my CV and got a response back about the position with details of the Gold mine and rates of pay which was in US$ of 21000 per month. 2 months on 1 month off. I signed the letter of offer and from there the communication was for visa application and Labor Department License. For the applications and certificates I was asked to email thru a copy of passport, with 2 blank pages, all current licenses to do with the job and birth certificate.
I have also emailed through a copy of my Drivers Licence. At first their request seemed Legitimate to obtain a visa to work in their country. We checked out as much about the company as possible and using the Ghana government website to see if the visa requirements were correct we went ahead with paying $1155 visa Western Union for Medical Cert and a Labor Department Licence.
Once obtaining certs for the GHC and LDE I was then asked to contact another person to obtain a United Trust Bank e-bank account.
This we did the account is opened but there is very little information on the 3 pages that I can open. To activate the account they are requesting further funds of US$2000. But the funds have to go via Western Union. I have reported this to SCAMwatch Australia who have said yes is a scam.
