Received an email asking for a math tutor from a foreign mother for her daughter for two weeks time within the Orlando, FL region. This is considered a \"Check Check Overpayment Scam\". I Googled \"tutor scam\" and a ton of emails exactly the same popped up. It is in chopped English with biblical lines at the bottom of it to entice the tutor to buy into the scam. I just wanted to post it so it doesn\'t happen to anyone. I recognized the email right away.
Follow Ups/Extra Information. Most recent is listed first.
I already posted the details of my initial interaction with this woman. After I told her I didn't feel comfortable with the situation and would not be able to work with her daughter, she proceeds to send the following email. (Keep in mind, I had already given her my address.)

I had posted an ad in the NYC Craiglist section for voice lessons, which included a link to my web site which had pricing information. The woman emailed me asking the price for lessons for 2 hours per day, 3 times per week for a month. I replied and said I would like to set up an initial free 30 minute consultation so I could assess her and figure out what would be the best plan for her. She declines the assessment and then proceeds to say it is for her daughter who is coming here for vacation for a couple of months, and she wants her daughter to have something to do during the day. She wanted her nanny to drop off her daughter.
When I left her with my contact information (and also asked for the information of the nanny), she said she would send me a cashier's check and that it would also include the nanny's fees too, which I would need to deduct. (Why not just write out a separate check to the nanny? And why would you trust a total stranger with your money?) She also said the nanny's fees would include the amount for the nanny to relocate to my area. She also mentioned it was her "client" who would be writing out the check to me, not she herself.
The more I learned of her, the more "off" this entire situation sounded. Then I came here and saw she was sending the same email to others.
