  Information

Initial contact was via text message as follows:
\"Concerning your Automobile advert on the net. Email jkebb7@gmail.com if it\'s still available and for what price? Email only!\"

I responded:
\"The trailer is still available. I am asking $31,000. I have one showing scheduled for this Thursday for someone coming from Grove Oklahoma. I am willing to negotiate the price with people who take the time to physically take a look at the trailer to understand everything it has to offer.\"

Tyler responded:
\"Hello John,
Thanks for your response. I am interested in the immediate purchase. I will take it for the price you\'ve mentioned and I will gladly cover PayPal charges from my end. I can only make the payment via paypal because it\'s very safe and secure for both of us. In case you don\'t have a paypal account I\'ll advice you to register for one at paypal.com. I have a private pick-up agent that will contact you in-order to handle the pick-up at any location of your choice once the payment is completed. Question: I\'ll like you to tell me more about the present mechanical condition, how often do you service it, mechanical history, have you ever experience any mechanical problem with it before and why are you selling it? Look forward to reading from you at your earliest convenience.
Best Regards,
Tyler\"

I responded with answers to the stated questions and ask if the trailer would be purchased as a private individual or as a partnership, LLC or Corporation. I also ask if he wanted his representative to inspect the trailer prior to proceeding with the transaction.

Tyler responded (and I began to sense a scam in the making:
Hi John,
Thanks for the info. I\'m very much interested and I want you to know that you don\'t have to surf around looking for buyers because you\'ve just found one. This is a gift for my Dad in Idaho, I hope you understand my eagerness to complete this transaction a.s.a.p...? I am presently at work in Auckland and won\'t be back until the 31st of September. Once I transfer the payment, the person handling the pickup will contact you in-order to setup a date and location for pickup and he will also be of assistance concerning the change of ownership by presenting all the documents needed to complete the change of ownership. This transaction is based on HUGE amount of trust and I expect to see this from your end as it is on mine. Here is my linkedIn profile: www.linkedin.com/in/ttylmuff/:

Tyler\'s next email was:
\"Have you remove the ad from the net? If not, please do!
Do you have more detailed pictures?
When would you like me to make the payment?\"

By now I had found this site and new for a fact this was a scam. I decided to toss back one last \"nice\" email just to see what the response would be:
\"Tyler,
PayPal informed me this evening that I would not have full seller protection if I handed the trailer over to your agent or transporter instead of my delivering it to a physical address with accompanying proof of delivery forms. Other elements of their seller protection are extremely limited if you or your dad were to decide the trailer had some issue or was not as represented in the ad. A request by you or your dad for a full or partial refund could quickly turn into a civil matter which is something PayPal refuses to become involved in. PayPal generally sides with the buyer when a dispute arises. I am no longer willing to utilize PayPal for this transaction. Since you are not able to handle the transaction in person, there are only three remaining options. 1. A wire transfer to my bank. Once the funds have transferred and cannot be recalled I would then sign over the trailer ownership papers and provide the trailer to your agent. 2. Send me a valid Cashiers Check and after it clears and cannot be recalled (approximately ten days) I would sign over ownership and provide the trailer to your agent. 3. Have your agent meet me at my bank with the entire amount in cash at which time I would sign over ownership. I have a feeling none of the above options will be acceptable to you and that you will no longer be interested in pursuing this transaction. If that is the case I wish you well.\"
