GUMTREE CAR BUYER
 Scammer
  Information
Name:
Paul Smith
Email Address:
Paul's mi spaul291990@gmail.com
Scam Website:
I just posted my ad on gumtree australia. Selling my car and after a few hours I have recieved a text msg from a person named "Paul Smith" saying.. he wants to buy my car. Below is the actual text msg he was sent to me yesterday 3rd of aprill 2015.

"I'm interested on your vehicle listed on gumtree, please get back to me with the price and condition on: spaul291990@gmail.com "

Then i replied to the email address the scammer provided on a text msg, but not showing a direct contact number. I have no idea how did he able to send me a text msg, without his mobile number being used. After replying via email to his text msg. I had a doubt and so I told my partner about it. Then my partner went.. "ah.. that's a scam, do not reply or provide any bank details, ok?" But I already did replied providing the item details, then he did respond quickly saying That he wants to buy my car and he will be paying me through paypal and or tru my bank account by providing my bank account details. That's when I got more curious and so I looked up google and search for NZOG and it leads me to this website, wherein I found out that the same company provided by the buyer/scammer "Paul Smith" was being used for the same reason of scamming people online. I was shocked to find out. But atleast, I have the chance to report the scammer. And the good thing is, I have found out about the scammer's modus operandi (bad intention) through your website and I didn't replied back to him with the bank details he was asking for his method of payment. I'm so thankful for finding out about your website. That saves me from being scammed. Thank you! Anyhow, below is the exact email message he was sent to me. I hope my story will be of help and serve as a lesson for anybody who is selling or buying online items. Please beware and be very cautious with your online transactions/deals. Better to deal with a stranger tru a direct contact phone number and or much better to meet up.
