Responded to an ad in the Syracuse, NY Sunday classified section for "yorkie puppies free for adoption to caring home". Texted the given number as requested...text to (672)694-3029. Ad stated," Hello everyone, trying to find my boy and girl home, unfortunately I cannot keep him due to my kids having allergies issues. They are purebred Yorkshire terrier 1st and 2nd shots already done including deworming(have paperwork to proof it) ...they are great with kids and will need lots of attention. Please feel free to contact me via text ...I am giving them away. No breeders please. Foolishly I sent a text requesting info.
Received a text directing me to contact email address deans family45@gmail.com, did so and received a response from a "Mrs. Dean". I asked important questions such as how old the puppies were, where she lived, vet check, parents on premises, why are you giving them away. Received an answer via email from Mrs. Dean giving me names of pups, 12 weeks old, 3 pounds. demanding jobs and didn't have time for pups. No answer to location. "Mrs. Dean" asked me questions, where I was located, if familiar with the breed and if I had other pets. Answered her questions and asked to see the puppies. Now I was thinking SCAM! Response from Mrs. Dean was the family was vacationing in Mexico City, claims they are missionaries, and would SHIP the pups to me if I was willing to take care of relocation papers...SCAM alert. Checked the text number and came up with similar ads for "FREE YORKIES... " in numerous classified ads in different states, ads dating back to beginning in August 2015. Also discovered the cell number (972)694-3029 is from Texas. Similar ads from another cell number and email address, (747)500-6157, email is ribeiroleticia322@gmail.com. Both are using the same puppy pictures as well.
