A man called my business claiming to be Martin Ndebele from Amakhosi Cultural Group using the number 0837018648 and later 0730011040. He wanted a quote for catering for a meeting which was to take place in Pinetown. After getting the quote he deposited a cheque which was over by R8500 and then demanded an immediate refund or else they would cancel the job. I advised them to cancel as no refund would be made on an uncleared cheque. The following day the bank called to notify me that the cheque deposited was fraudulent as I had already suspected.

The man called us this morning asking for a catering service for 50 people on Saturday. he then insisted that they will do a payment as soon as possible. the amount we charged them was R7500. but when they made a payment it was R14500. they sent a notice of payment from absa. after that he called asking us to urgently return the other R7000 because they need to do a booking somewhere else for transport, and he asked how much do we have so we can give it to him to pay for the transport. we then realised it was a scam.

The man has just offered me a catering job, nothing has happened yet, but I am now scared he might use my details for something illegal, and I am glad i stumbled into this blog before I got the false transfer into my account.

Since you’re here …
we have a small favour to ask. More people are visting Scamdex and Scamalot than ever but advertising revenues are falling fast and we have no 'product' to sell.
And unlike many informational websites, we haven’t put up a paywall or membership barrier – we want to keep our site as open as we can.
So you can see why we need to ask for your help. Scamdex/Scamalot websites takes a lot of time, money and hard work to keep running. We do this because we
hate to see our fellow humans getting scammed out of their hard-earned money by low-lives.
